If there’s a better spot to enjoy a sunset in South Lake Tahoe than from Table 12 at The Boathouse on the Pier, we don’t know it. The table sits on a narrow deck on the restaurant’s second floor, with a spectacular panoramic vista to the north and west. The best time to visit the Boathouse is during summer, but bring your sunscreen as there’s no shade, and the sun can really crank. The Boathouse has a casual ambience with an outstanding kitchen. Chef Brian Sunkamaitis delivers top-notch Continental cuisine, with dishes such as Andouille Sausage Stuffed Pork Chops and Elephant Garlic–Crusted Wild Salmon. His signature dish–Crab Cakes–is a local favorite. Watch a video that really captures the restaurant’s experience. The restaurant doesn’t take reservations for parties of fewer than six, so scoring Table 12 may be a bit of a challenge. The good news is that along the second-floor deck, there are at least five tables with views comparable to Table 12’s.
