There are few romantic table experiences that can rival the one at Daybed 161 at Nobu Malibu. The Daybed sits mere feet from the Pacific Ocean and all of your senses are engaged. The sound of waves lapping on the beach below you; the sight of the vast Pacific Ocean stretching to the horizon; the feel and salty smell of gentle ocean breezes envelope you; and, of course, the delicious taste of the Nobu culinary offerings will impress you. Chef Nobu Matsuhisa is considered by many to be LA’s most influential chef. One of his most popular dishes is a Black Cod with miso – buttery, sweet and incredibly tender. The Yellowtail sashimi with jalepeno is also extraordinarily good. There are two challenges to the Nobu experience, however. First is getting in. The restaurant is incredibly popular, especially with celebrities who live nearby. A Clooney sighting is not unusual. Second, Nobu is very, very expensive. However, for a special occasion, the setting and cuisine are worth it. If you can’t score Daybed 161, try to get Table 95. You’ll have much of the same experience, but you won’t be able to snuggle up next to your date!
