With its unparalleled views, food, ambience and service, Table 35 at Per Se may be the most romantic table in New York City. This table, a romantic settee for two that looks out on Central Park through 12-foot-high windows, is the highlight of Per Se’s Salon. Snuggling next to your partner, enjoy chef Thomas Keller’s signature “Oysters and Pearls”–a sabayon of Pearl Tapioca with oysters and white sturgeon caviar.
But Per Se won’t take reservations for Table 35, which has until now been a secret. To secure it, you have to understand how Per Se works. The restaurant is divided into two sections: the Dining Room, with its $310 12course Tasting Menu, and the Salon, where you may choose a la carte items from that menu. You can play it safe and arrive around 5:15 p.m., letting the host know you’d like to have dinner there when Per Se opens at 5:30 p.m. Or if you’re a gambler, show up around 7 p.m., put your request in for Table 35 and hang out at the Center Bar or the Stone Rose Lounge until it becomes available.
