Few restaurants in the Palm Springs area afford an elevated view of the surrounding mountains and valley. For that reason alone, dining at the Pacifica Seafood Restaurant, on the second floor of Palm Desert’s Gardens on El Paseo, is an exceptional experience. Time dinner for sunset to optimize the spectacular scene from the patio. Pacifica’s outdoor cabanas are fun for two, and while there are several to choose from, Cabana 805 allowing diners the most unobstructed view of the valley and distant hills. Generally set for tables of four or six, management will happily convert to a two top. And if you can’t score Cabana 805, try for 801 or 809 (in that order). Cabana 801 is on a corner, but ask your server to lift the sun shield to spy the view. Start your evening with a Kimchi Crab Martini and follow it with Pacifica’s Sugar-Spiced Salmon–all the seafood here is extraordinary, paralleling the view.
